Breeder quality kittens are kittens which demonstrate most of the qualities desired for the breed, but which may or may not qualify in the show ring.  If the breeder is of sufficient quality to show, it is called a high breeder. In this case, the cat may earn its champion ribbons. On our page, Angel is a high breeder. Her ears are a little too high on her head, and her body is slightly elongated, but she has a good nose and excellent coat.

Bertie, on the other hand is a breeder quality cat who throws very fine kittens, but who would not show well, and in fact would probably be disqualified from the show ring. In Bertie's case, her tail and body are elongated. The elongated body is a good feature in a mother cat, in that she has plenty of room for babies inside.  When breeding, one must examine the traits of the sire and the dam to determine a good mix, and then study the results of each breeding to determine whether or not this pair should breed again.

Kittens of breeding quality range in price from $600 to $1000, depending on the qualities mentioned above. Beck's are very particular about the placement of their kittens, and will not sell to just anyone.  It is possible, if a suitable arrangement has not been made for a breeder or show quality animal to be placed, Beck's will sell the kitten to a good home as a pet for a negotiated price, again requiring the neuter or spay agreement discussed on the pets page.
